Inequality & Wellbeing [In One City Leeds]

This video story is a creative, multi-stakeholder conversation around inequality and wellbeing in Leeds. Statistics are never more than a shadow of reality. This film enquiry does what statistics on their own can't do by filling out people realities around inequalities linked to wellbeing, all alongside their testimony of their lived experience. This video story is the 5th film in a series called 'In One City' and is about the links between inequalities and wellbeing. It was produced as part of the In One City project, a community cohesion, social dialogue and video storytelling project working across Leeds to increase dialogue between diverse communities. In One City is a partnership between Together For Peace (a charity that seeks to strengthen communities through peace making) and Lippy People. At the heart of the project is collaborative video storytelling production that sees people building and sharing their stories with experienced social filmmakers. This video story is about the experiences of Gareth, a former prisoner and drug user who has turned his back on his past and is focussed on a new future for him and his family. This film was produced as part of the 5th film in a series called 'In One City' and is about the links between inequalities and wellbeing. It was produced as part of the In One City project, a community cohesion, social dialogue and filmmaking project working across Leeds to increase dialogue between diverse communities. In One City is a partnership between Together For Peace (a charity that seeks to strengthen communities through peace making) and Lippy People (a social purpose film and capacity building social enterprise). At the heart of the project is collaborative film production that sees people building and sharing their stories with experienced social filmmakers. The Worsbrough Common Primary School asked the question ?Can 'Pupil voice' within school be harnessed to engage the wider community in young people's issues?? The ?Voice In The Middle? project is a collaborative investigation into how children and young people can be empowered to contribute to their own education and communities. The film was a creative partnership between Cape UK, Lippy People and nine schools from West and South Yorkshire. The NAME OF SCHOOL asked the question ?THE QUESTION? If you've ever wanted to know how to grow dahlias, here's where to start! This film was produced within a series of films about growing, eating and sharing locally grown food within Eastmoor, Wakefield. Here, relationships to food are being used as a method of building meaningful connection between residents and supporting the community garden to fulfil and communicate its aims and experiences. The films have been produced in conjunction with the Eastmoor Community Garden Association and people who grow food in the area. They are intended to inspire both younger and older people to use the growing, eating and sharing of food as a resource to build connections between people and the land they live on. She hopes that you might be able to give her the career start she is seeking! Video Profiles are short films that enable people who are long term unemployed and without a ?joined up? work history to share their potential and career aspirations with people in a position to help them. They seek to support people with barriers to gaining employment to over come the obstacles they face through traditional job application processes by enabling potential employers to see the future person rather than their past. The films share what the job seekers wanted to say about themselves as they were fully in control of the production decision-making processes.
